Note from Jacob Adler: Halloween Concert

Monday, September 14th, 2009

I am organizing a concert to be held on halloween eve, and I am looking for singers and instrumentalists to take part.

Less of a concert and more of a sonic meditation, the music will consist of drones (tuned to the harmonic series) produced by an organ, amplified computers, a large gong, and as many singers and instrumentalists as we can find. The duration is 90 minutes with a simple dynamic shape.

There will be only one rehearsal which will take place one week before the event.
There is no musical score – directions will be short and simple.
The concert will take place at St. Augustine’s Church in Tempe (corner of College/Broadway) on October 31, 9pm.

I have performed many concerts like this, and they have always been powerful experiences for the participants. The significance of all hollows eve is realized as we remember our loved ones who have passed away and meditate on ‘the whole mystery whereby beings come into existence in time and space, and then return once more into the realm beyond space and time’ (-Stockhausen).

Please contact me if you would like to collaborate.
Please forward this email to friends and family who might be interested in collaborating.

Thanks and I hope to hear from you,
Jacob Adler

The Grid: Music Edition–Review from AZ Republic

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Here is a link to Ed Masley’s review of our current Art Installation:
Local Bands Family Tree

And, this is an excert:
JRC, co-owner of the Trunk Space, says he’s always had a thing for time lines. And considering how many bands he’s seen come through the Trunk Space in the past five years (he’s thinking between 3,000 and 4,000 different acts), you’d have to think the man would have to have more than a passing interest in live music.

Now, thanks to an art installation that covers one Trunk Space wall with yarn and thumbtacks, he’s combined those passions in a project called The Grid: Music Edition.

We also MUST thank those who helped make this happen, our friends at theshizz.org, Tommy Cannon, thegoodshows.com, and all the people who scowered thier brains to recall just who plaed in what band when.
It has been AWESOME!
